MLK Remembrance Pop-up Concert

Where: Alkebu-Lan Bookstore

Support and celebrate the only Black-owned bookstore in the city of Nashville during this pop-up concert and cypher that’ll leave you yearning, breaking and freeing in the spirit of equality, justice, and love.

Commemoration of MLK and Iftar

When: Monday April 4, 2022

Where: Appleton Room at Jubilee Hall, Fisk University

Time:  4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

As we reflect on the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., join us for an evening of spiritual and communal solidarity through performances, storytelling, and healthy dinner to break the fast in the sacred month of Ramadan.

One day before the anniversary of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, join us for an immersive musical book reading of Mother Kathlyn Kirkwood’s recently released Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round: My Story of the Making of Martin Luther King Day, a coming of age story about the faceless and nameless foot soldiers that peacefully and courageously protested through the Civil Rights Movement and the passing of a national and historic legislation.
