Over the past two years, Millions of Conversations traveled across our country conducting initial research about how Americans experience partisan divides, religious diversity, and information bias. One of the most common complaints we heard was that Americans no longer know who to trust. We have realized that this is in part due to disinformation campaigns – efforts that have become one of the most powerful tools in our political climate today. More than ever before, we are inundated with news, research, and media content, making it difficult to know who to believe anymore. You are not alone in this feeling. Many Americans – regardless of their political inclinations – have difficulty identifying and differentiating disinformation.
In this new year, we join together to find our common truth, countering this phenomenon and disrupting disinformation campaigns. We pledge to read our sources carefully and reflect on how the news we consume affects the way we characterize other people. Please join us in signing on to the Millions Pledge to recognize how our own biases are not innate, but rather, informed by our environments. In 2020, we are working to keep disinformation out of our beliefs, banding together in our efforts to find understanding.
To a positive 2020,
This election year, let us strive to stay away from “othering” and dangerous disinformation efforts that seek to divide us. Our election in America is about us, all of us. Let’s keep it that way.

526 Voters, 1 Weekend
A New Look at America
In October 2019, the New York Times published a review of a weekend spent with 526 individuals reflective of the American electorate. This piece sheds light on what it means to be an American today, and we find ourselves returning to it as a beacon of understanding in the new year. We urge you to click on the photo to read as well!
On Our List
Colum McCann’s Apeirogon
Join us in pre-ordering Colum McCann’s newest novel. His narrative addresses some of the core issues of our campaign, seeking understanding in an environment where identities are pitted against each other. McCann guides us through the worlds of Bassam and Rami. One Palestinian, the other Israeli, McCann explains how common loss brings them together in the desire for peace. Click on the photo above to claim a copy of the book today.
